Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then located multiple other marked cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations suggest the fluid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A high-ranking representative stated the attack made him stunned and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he posted on online, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter targeting residents of migrant background in 2020.
